Pizza is a common staple in or house. Whether we make it ourselves or dine out at our favorite pizzeria, it’s a once a week event. As delicious as eating pizza is, deciding on the flavors can be a challenge… especially when cheese pizza always seems to win.
So we’ve learned to compromise. A pizza truce, so to speak. Splitting the pie right down the middle to please each tasty palate. The result: his margarita and hers pesto, spinach and mozzarella. The pairing is a match made in pizza heaven.
Here’s what you need:
1 Pizza Dough – store bought (I have made Bobby Flay’s before and it’s amazing)
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 bunch of fresh basil
1/2 cup tomato sauce
1/2 cup fresh or sautéed spinach
1/4 cup pesto
1 cup sliced mozzarella
1/2 cup shredded mozzarella
Preparing pizza:
Position oven rack in the center and preheat to 500 degrees
Roll out pizza dough into a rectangular shape. Transfer the dough to 17″ x 11″ baking sheet.
Drizzle both sides of the dough with olive oil and spread throughout. Then sprinkle both sides with the shredded mozzarella.
The Margarita side: add the tomato sauce, basil leaves and fresh mozzarella.
The Pesto & Spinach side: add pesto, spinach and mozzarella.
Place in oven and bake the pizza until the crust is crisp and brown on the bottom, and the cheese is melted on top – about 15 minutes.
Enjoy!
I love that you split it right down the middle, both sides are so good I couldn’t pick. Would have to have a slice of each!! I’ll have to try Bobby Flays pizza dough.
It’s so simple and yet so delicious. Yes, the BF dough is scrumptious – a must try at least once.
This is so something the boyfriend and I need! compromiiiise 😛
Right, it works out perfectly. I change up the flavors all the time… on “Her” side 😉
I like the idea of a his and hers pizza, looks like he got the larger half there. 😉
Mine was plenty 😉
Duh! Don’t know why I order pizza half/half sometimes yet at home you have to sometimes settle with a pizza truce when in all reality all you need to do is split sides. 🙂 NICE WORK!
